My Flag is on Fire: “White Bicycle”
Reno band My Flag is on Fire produced a video for their song “White Bicycle,” from their album Europa Song, in which indie folk meets an expansiveness. Much of the video is filmed in Lincoln Lounge, a Reno bar aggressively decorated with Abraham Lincoln memorabilia, where I saw my friend Louis play his last show before he moved to South Korea, before I moved to New York. His band was different from this one. Outside, the video describes some of downtown Reno, its weird collisions. Casinos and bars give way to desolate and undeveloped spaces, no shadows at all. A short drive away, there is a dry lake, full of transformed dust. Sunlight pulls color into things.
