Albert Ayler: Change has come

Feel like the trajectory of Ayler’s composition and improvisation was mostly shaped by the polyphony of early jazz rather than any impulse toward “freedom,” which in its most indefinite form could seem like a willful European ignorance of history. Feel like this song sustains that impression. Wildly colliding energies that retain a body and do not exactly merge.
